• Adi Gortler’s movement direction adds an efficient, slick and quietly expressive tonality to the stage language while the nuance of the text appears mined with characteristic theatrical warmth under Hunter’s direction.

  • “A series of powerful mime sequences, choreographed by Adi Gortler and Sacha Plaige, manages to create a feeling of mass movement and outside forces that cannot be controlled, with a cast of just three.”

  • " this is a superbly-realised piece of theatrical storytelling, with Adi Gortler’s movement making it a seamless ballet"

  • "The set encourages a clear approach, and Adi Gortler marshals movement direction with aplomb, the frantic assemblage of props and pace blur its seriousness."

  • ״At one point, they attempt to ‘sext’, a scene that reminded me of Martin Sherman’s Bent, where the men imprisoned in camp achieve a physical intimacy without touch״

  • ״As the play progresses, the chemistry between the actors is tender, playful, and constant״

  • ״With the story entirely told by our two protagonists, Yaniv Yafe’s Boaz and Tarik Badwan’s George are believable and authentic and are brought to life in a way you can genuinely root for״

Adi is a London-based movement director (Royal Court, Jermyn Street, Park Theatre, LAMDA), teacher (LAMDA, RCSSD, Lyric Hammersmith), and director (The Arab-Hebrew Theatre, Haifa International Children’s Festival).

Training in London (MFA) and Tel- Aviv (B.Ed), her journey has been one of exploration and amalgamation, drawing from the realms of theatre, performance arts, Yoga, martial arts, and a myriad of physical techniques.

This rich tapestry of influences has cultivated a movement practice that goes beyond the conventional, allowing to craft a space that thrives on collaboration and creativity.

At the heart of her approach lies a deep celebration of people and their individuality, fostering an environment where uniqueness and identities are cherished and expressed.

Both from the teaching and directing lenses, the objective is to challenge the story we are telling, through the individuals’ physical expression and the ensemble work

Movement Director | Teacher | Director

  • Movement Directing

In collaboration with directors, actors, and creative teams, I embark on the artistic expedition of creating worlds and language for each project (The Royal Court, Jermyn Street, Park Theatre, LAMDA, Guildhall, see WORK).

  • Teaching

Teaching ignites my utmost passion – encountering individuals from across the globe and imbibing their wisdom. Together, we delve into the realm of Movement, Identity, and Awareness, Ensemble work, and the application into characters and creative work (LAMDA, RCSSD, private Workshops).

  • Directing

My directing embodies the essence of my initial professional training, forming the core of my approach to all creative projects. It entails unraveling text, guiding actors, and crafting a world and language for each play or project.
